One price, no surprises. If we find gum disease during the exam, we will stop, explain what we found, and go through your options and their cost before doing anything further.
What is included in the $212 new patient visit?
The $212 covers a full set of digital x-rays, a professional cleaning with our hygienist, and a complete exam with Dr. Deb or Dr. Chang. It applies to new patients in the absence of periodontal gum disease.

Why the gum disease condition? A regular cleaning treats a healthy mouth. If gum disease is present, the tissue below the gum line needs a deeper cleaning, which is a different, longer procedure. We would rather be upfront about that than quote you one price and hand you another bill afterward.
What happens at the first appointment?
Your first visit takes about an hour: x-rays, a cleaning with our hygienist, then time with Dr. Deb or Dr. Chang going through what they found. You leave with a plan and the cost of it in writing.

Paperwork and a hello
Julie checks you in and takes your insurance details. Ten minutes early is plenty, or fill the forms out ahead of time and walk straight through.

X-rays
A full set of digital images, which take a few minutes and use a fraction of the radiation of older film x-rays.

Your cleaning
Our hygienist cleans above the gum line, removes tartar, and polishes. Tell her if anything is sensitive and she will adjust.

The exam and a conversation
Dr. Deb or Dr. Chang goes through your x-rays with you, checks your teeth, gums and bite, and tells you plainly what they see.

A plan, and the cost in writing
If anything needs doing, you leave with the options, what each one costs, what your insurance is likely to cover, and what can safely wait.
Most first visits run about an hour. If you are nervous, say so when you book. It changes how we pace the appointment, and it is a very normal thing to tell us.
What insurance do you accept?
Avenue Dentistry accepts most major dental insurance, including Delta Dental, UnitedHealthcare, Cigna, MetLife, Blue Cross Blue Shield and Principal. Coverage varies by plan, so call 408-779-2129 with your plan details and we will check what yours covers before your visit.
What if I do not have insurance?
You are still welcome here, and plenty of our patients pay out of pocket. The $212 new patient visit is the same price with or without insurance. For larger treatment, we offer CareCredit, which splits the cost into monthly payments, often with no interest if paid within the promotional window.
What should I bring?

- Your dental insurance card, if you have one
- A list of any medications you take
- The name of your previous dentist, if you would like your records transferred

No vague warnings about problems down the road, and no pressure to book treatment on the spot. You get a clear picture of your teeth and gums, what needs attention now, what can wait, and what each option costs.
Then you decide. That is the whole approach, and it is why patients who have not seen a dentist in years tend to stay with us once they come in.
